IF YOU are planning to travel on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, be aware of limited services — particularly cross-Solent from and to the Isle of Wight.

Today, Christmas Day, Monday, December 25:

  • There are no Wightlink sailings between Ryde and Portsmouth Harbour, Fishbourne and Portsmouth, and between Yarmouth and Lymington.
  • Hovertravel are not providing flights between Ryde and Southsea.
  • Red Funnel have no Red Jet services running between Cowes and Southampton, but are providing car ferry services from East Cowes to Southampton at 10.30am and 1.30pm.
  • There are no IslandLine train services between Ryde and Shanklin.

Travel for Boxing Day, Tuesday, December 26:

  • Wightlink will be providing a limited service of five car ferry crossings from Yarmouth to Lymington; hourly car ferry crossings between Fishbourne and Portsmouth from 8am until 9pm , with one at 11pm; and a regular Catamaran service between Ryde and Portsmouth Harbour.
  • Red Funnel will be running a reduced car carry service between East Cowes and Southampton; and Red Jet service between Cowes and Southampton.   
  • Hovertravel will not be operating between Ryde and Southsea.
  • There are no IslandLine train services between Ryde and Shanklin.
  • Southern Vectis will running a Sunday timetable.
