A dog is in a critical condition after being hit by a car on the Isle of Wight, an animal charity has said.
Friends of the Animals (FOTA) claims the vehicle involved did not stop and is appealing for help to fund the animal's treatment.
The charity said Daisy, 14, was hit while on her lead near Victoria Recreation Ground, Newport on Sunday afternoon (February 18).
"Poor Daisy was screaming as she rolled under the car which left a tyre impression on her body", the charity said.
"This devastating and shocking deed has left poor Daisy in critical condition and her long term foster mum is in shock and extremely distressed as are we here at FOTA."
The charity said the police have been contacted.
Daisy underwent emergency treatment at Carisbrooke Vets for their initial emergency care and is now being cared for by The People's Vet.
To date, the veterinary cost is £1,733.
FOTA said: "Any contribution towards Daisy’s treatment would be very much appreciated.
"Thank you and fingers crossed for this beautiful girl."
FOTA can be contacted on (01983) 522511.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101.
