A trio of Southampton men charged with an alleged burglary at an Isle of Wight Co-op appeared before magistrates yesterday (Tuesday, February 27).

As previously reported by the Isle of Wight County Press, police were called to Landguard Road in Shanklin at 10.53pm on Sunday, February 25, following reports of a burglary.

The Co-op store remained closed for most of Monday after a quantity of cash was reported as stolen.

Three men appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court charged with burglary and other alleged offences, and all entered no plea.

Danny Kernaghan, 37, of Golden Grove, Southampton, is accused of burglary and failing to provide a sample for a class A drug test and has been remanded in custody.

Robert Mandair, 33, of Cossack Green, Southampton, is accused of burglary and was granted conditional bail.

George Mason, 41, of Kingsdown Way, Southampton, is accused of burglary, driving without a licence and driving without third-party insurance, and was granted conditional bail.

All three men will appear at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on April 8.
