AN ISLE of Wight man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery following a police chase in Newport this afternoon (Thursday).
Officers were called at around 2.15pm following a report of a robbery at Central Stores, on Newport High Street.
A man tried to take money from the till before leaving the scene, police said.
A County Press reader spotted around five officers giving chase along Crocker Street and into Halfords car park.
Police went on to arrest a 30-year-old man from Ventnor on suspicion of robbery.
