Home Office pathologists have confirmed that an object found on Bembridge beach was animal remains, not human.
Police conducted a search of the area near Bembridge Coast Hotel last night (Saturday).
There had been concerns by a member of the public that the object could have been human remains, the force confirmed.
This afternoon, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary provided an update.
A spokesperson said: "We have now received confirmation from Home Office pathologists that the discovery is not human remains and the investigation has concluded."
The spokesperson confirmed to the County Press that the remains were from an animal.
