A 35-PIECE orchestra with singers will be taking the stage for a spectacular concert — the D-Day Proms — at Newport's Medina Theatre.
During the show, on Saturday, June 1, expect all the traditional wartime singalong favourites, such as We'll Meet Again and A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, punctuated by poignant moments, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
Conducted by musical director, Andrew Woodford, the orchestra will be joined by a compere and students from Curtain Call Creative, to mark this special occasion.
The event will conclude with a traditional 'Proms' finale to the evening, with a programme that will include Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem, Cavalleria Rusticana, Nimrod, Fantasia and, the themes from blockbuster movies, Saving Private Ryan and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The concert starts at 7.30pm.
