PINK Floyd created some the most brilliant and engaging rock music ever produced — and it was brought to life by arguably the best UK tribute to the band, Think Floyd, at a packed Shanklin Theatre on Saturday.
Around 500 fans enjoyed an exceptional show, performing material spanning six decades.
In recognition of the 30th anniversary of Floyd’s timeless Division Bell album this year, Think Floyd treated the audience to several tracks from it, mixed into a set that featured globally recognised favourites and the odd surprise.
Die hard fans were treated to a faithful rendition of the lesser known track Dogs, from the acclaimed 1977 album, Animals — a perfect showcase for the excellent musicianship of Think Floyd.
The show had many memorable highlights.
As fans expected, there were some gems from their most famous of albums, Dark Side of the Moon, namely, Time.
But special mention must go to Beccy Brennan for her spine-tingling vocal performance of The Great Gig in the Sky.
Renditions of album title track, Wish You Were Here, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond, went down well, as did classics from The Wall — Hey You, Another Brick in the Wall and Comfortably Numb.
It was a pleasant surprise to see the band perform Richard Wright's Remember a Day, from their A Saucerful of Secrets album, recorded during the Syd Barrett era of the late 1960s.
The laser lighting also added pzazz to the show.
