ISLE of Wight residents gathered in Newport for a visually striking D-Day 80th anniversary event today (Saturday).
The free family event, at Newport’s Victoria Recreation Ground, was hosted by Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council and ran between 10am and 4pm.
A parade from Drill Hall Road set off at around 10.30am, arriving some 20 minutes later for the Lord Lieutenant to take a salute.
A variety of activities were provided for Islanders to come together to commemorate D-Day 80 years on.
Here, we have a spectacular gallery of photos and videos from the day.
