COWES Floating Bridge will remain out of service for the rest of the weekend, the Isle of Wight Council has confirmed.

UPDATE: 'Repair operations' to keep Cowes Floating Bridge out of service

A foot passenger launch service is still in place between Cowes and East Cowes as a result.

The local authority says an electrical fault is to blame and has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The County Press has approached the Isle of Wight Council for a statement.

The service was suspended yesterday (Saturday), and last month, it was also suspended.

The May suspension was to allow for the vessel's east prow ram to be replaced, after wear was detected during routine maintenance.
