Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on Military Road yesterday (Monday, June 24).
Police were called at around 6.30pm to reports of a collision on the iconic road, near Freshwater Bay Golf Club.
The collision involved a black Triumph motorcycle and a grey Citroen Nemo.
Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were en route to training on Military Road at the time of the collision and stopped to provide initial casualty care.
The road was closed in both directions for a time while emergency teams dealt with the incident.
The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 50s from Cowes, was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment after suffering serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
A spokesperson for the force said: "If you saw either vehicle on this road around the time of the collision, witnessed the collision itself, or have any information or dash cam footage that may assist our investigation, please call 101 quoting reference 44240266283."
