POLICE officers called to the recently reopened road linking Shanklin and Ventnor were not out catching law breakers, but instead a cow which seized the moo-ment to escape from its field.
Officers were called to a report of a cow loose on the aptly named Cowleaze Hill, near Shanklin, at 12.31pm today (Sunday, July 28).
It appears the animal had broken out of a field, adjoining the main road.
But the cow was quickly found and taken back to its farm shortly after 1pm — safely returned back behind barbed wire.
Incidents like this are not uncommon on the Island.
