WHEN it comes to summer staycation holidays for couples in the UK, the Isle of Wight is top of the league, according to a new study.
GO Outdoors has named Island the UK's best place as a couples holiday destination — scoring 9.67 out of 10 across various factors.
It also ranked second as the UK's couples holiday hotspot, boasting the highest number of lodges — at 35.
The Isle of Wight, with one of the highest average annual temperatures, offers one of the lowest average costs of a double hotel room, which was £85 in July.
The survey also revealed one in every six activities (15.70 per cent) is recommended for couples, including visits to Osborne House and Shanklin Chine.
Additionally, 16.70 per cent of restaurants on the Island, more than one in six, are considered 'romantic'.
The data also showed the Isle of Wight is ranked as the seventh top UK family-friendly holiday destination, scoring 8.96 out of 10.
GO Outdoors looked at factors such as the number of family-friendly holidays available, restaurants and the cost of a family hotel room.
On the Island, the study showed 9.1 per cent of hotels were considered 'family-friendly', with the average cost of a family-friendly hotel room at £194.12 per night.
