AN ISLE of Wight Post Office in a town centre convenience shop set to cease trading this August will continue operating for several months, it has been confirmed.

Central Stores, on Well Road in East Cowes, will cease trading from August 12.

The impending closure also impacts on the fate of the Post Office inside the shop.

The nearest branch is up the hill at Osborne Garage.

However, while the store itself will stop trading this month, the Post Office has confirmed it will continue operating until 2025.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We have very recently received a resignation from the operator for East Cowes Post Office.

“The retail side of the store is closing in August and the Post Office will continue to operate from this location until the end of January.”
