AT WHAT is the busiest time of the year for tourists going to and from the Isle of Wight, the misery continues for travellers as Red Funnel's vehicle ferry service remains disrupted by the latest in a long line of technical issues.
Major disruption continues on Red Funnel's East Cowes-Southampton service, with a number of cancellations announced on its timetable today (Monday, August 5).

And the travel disruption will continue until Friday this week (August 9) while the cross-Solent ferry company fixes its Voith unit on its vessel, Red Eagle.
The Voith propulsion unit a key component within the vessel’s forward propeller system.
The following services are cancelled:
From East Cowes — 8.30am, 8.55am (freight only), 9.30am, 10.30am, 11.30am, 11.55am (freight), 12.30pm, 1.30pm.
From Southampton — 8am, 9am, 10am, 10.25am (freight only), 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 1.25pm (freight).
Red Funnel has not issued further cancellation times beyond these on its website.

Leanna Lakes, operations director: "We are working closely with the team at Voith to diagnose and resolve the problem; however, this will require time.
"We will issue another update once we have more information and a clearer understanding of when the vessel can return to service.
"In the meantime, we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to our customers’ travel plans.
"Our technical team is committed to doing everything they can to restore Red Eagle back into service as quickly as possible."
