Isle of Wight band, Ugly Ozo, have released their debut single ahead of headline shows and a UK tour supporting fellow Islander Lauran Hibberd later this year.

The single, Remains, tells a gutsy tale of betrayal and revenge and is inspired by bands including The Breeders and Pretty Sick.

Released by Portsmouth record label Strong Island Recordings, the track was mixed by Guy Page from Isle of Wight indie rock band, Coach Party.

Ugly Ozo is fronted by Jess Baker, the guitarist for the band, alongside her sister, Boo Baker, who plays bass.

Ellie East, a session musician who has played with Eurythmics's Dave Stewart, is on drums.

Speaking about the release of her debut single, Jess said: “Remains embodies the intensity of emotions stirred by betrayal and injustice.

"It captures the cathartic release of reclaiming power and seeking retribution and is a testament to the unyielding spirit of those who refuse to be silenced.”

In September, Ugly Ozo will support Lauran Hibberd on her UK tour, playing at venues from Glasgow to Brighton.

On Sunday, September 22, Lauran will perform at the Joiners in Southampton, the nearest date to the Island.

In October, Ugly Ozo will support American rock band, Skating Polly, in Brighton and the following month, will perform a headline show at Portsmouth’s Wedgewood Rooms.
