Age UK Isle of Wight has welcomed five new trustees, in its most successful recruitment drive yet.

The individuals were added to the board following the highly successful "Become A Trustee" campaign that was introduced in May.

The campaign, which sought passionate individuals eager to improve the lives of the elder community, was met with an overwhelming response leading to an early closure due to high demand.

By the end of June to early July 2024, the trustees were appointed and are presently being inducted into the role.

Heather Bentley, Sara Coleman, Margaret Huxtable, Martin Bostock, and Martyn Pearl, will bring a mix of experience to the board.

Their addition is expected to boost the charity's capability to support older individuals in the community.

The voluntary, unpaid role of a trustee highlights the dedication of these individuals.

The charity also welcomes volunteer applications across a range of interests.

A spokesperson for Age UK Isle of Wight, said: "We were thrilled to see the incredible response from individuals on the Isle of Wight who are eager to support our charity and older members of our community.

"We look forward to welcoming the new perspectives and experiences they will bring to our trustee board."
