An Island man is cycling from London to Southwestern Spain for charity.

Iain McKie, of Totland, will start at Trafalgar Square in London and conclude his cycle ride at Cape Trafalgar in the Cadiz province of Spain.

Iain has selected Mountbatten, MS Society, Samaritans, Stroke Association, Parkinson's, ABC and Bowel Cancer UK as his chosen charities.

Donations can be made at www.latourdeloon.co.uk/donate, with 'en route' updates available via the blog on the same website.

The route will be between 1,500 and 1,600 miles and Iain will set off on September 8, aiming to complete the journey in two weeks and four days.

Iain said: "I have deliberately chosen something that will test me to the absolute physical and mental extreme.  I am not a cyclist, nor am I a member of any cycling club.

"For those who know me, I am more than a little quirky and off the wall, but I hope those people would also agree that I have a level of determination and generosity."
