Newport will celebrate its history as it holds Newport Heritage Day on September 7.
The day, which is part of the National Heritage Open Days scheme, will celebrate the heritage of the Island's county town.
Shops in the town are getting involved by creating special window displays, reflecting the history of each space.
Meanwhile, the Masonic Club and St John's Church will be open for guided tours, and 64 High Street will be open exhibiting the history of the First Newport Scouts.
The Museum of Island History will be open for free, and the Classic Motor Show will return to Newport Quay.
In the run-up to the event, a new scheme has launched to encourage shoppers back onto the high street.
Newport Minster will host creative activities with artist Trudie Wilson, and the IW Council Archaeology Team and Finds Liaison Officer will be bringing some items from Newport's history.
Unity Hall, IW Family History Society and CWGC will also be there to help visitors discover their own historic connections.
Hannah Griffiths from Newport Minster said: “We’re really excited to be working with so many different groups across Newport to bring this free event to the local community.
"It is a great opportunity for people to find their connection to Newport."
