The Isle of Wight Walking Festival, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, is gearing up for its next batch of walks.
Taking place from October 5 to October 13, the walks vary between favourites from years gone by, as well as new ones.
Many of the walks are free to join, although booking is essential via the Isle of Wight Walking Festival website.
The lengths of the walks differ, with the first one being a 17 mile trek celebrating the 200th years of the RNLI.
The Joey’s Walk hike will be led by former Bembridge RNLI coxswain Martin Woodward as participants follow in the footsteps of Joey Attrill, an Island coxswain from 1888 who walked from Bembridge to Atherfield to save the remaining crew of a wrecked ship.
Showcasing another part of the Island’s history, Brading Roman Villa has launched a new nature trail where walkers are encouraged to follow the trail and explore the countryside and local wildlife.
Meanwhile, making Brighstone more accessible for those with mobility problems The Isle of Wight Ramblers are planning to replace a stile with a gate.
The Isle of Wight Walking Festival is organised by Visit Isle of Wight and backed by local tourism businesses.
Ahead of the festival, Amy Summers, from Visit Isle of Wight, said: "All of this wouldn’t be possible without the support of volunteers and local businesses.
“We have a programme of fantastic walks planned for the autumn for visitors to enjoy.”
