The Isle of Wight Green Party is holding a meeting to address the ExxonMobil pipeline.
The meeting will be held on Monday, September 16, at The Riverside Centre in Newport from 7pm, with members and non-members encouraged to attend.
The meeting will look at the plans for the pipeline, listen to views and discuss the next steps in opposing the pipeline's construction.
The multinational oil and gas company has proposed plans for an underground pipeline to transport carbon dioxide from Fawley Power Station to under the English Channel.
The plans have caused concern for Islanders, with a petition opposing the plans now signed by over 30,000 people, and consultation meetings being held across the Island.
The Isle of Wight Green Party has said in a statement: "ExxonMobil held meetings in a handful of small venues throughout August (when many people were busy or away).
"Islanders discovered that the two favoured routes cut straight through the Isle of Wight, from coast to coast, and will involve enormous groundworks over several years."
Co-chair Cameron Palin said: "Public awareness of these proposals and the rationale behind them is far too low.
"We must alert Islanders to ExxonMobil's plans and make sure that the Labour Government say no to the pipeline."
