MORE than 50 swimmers are set to conquer their fears and achieve personal milestones in the annual Solent Swim.
This event, established by the West Wight Sports and Community Centre in Freshwater, marks its 14th year, tomorrow (Saturday, September 14).
The swimmers, aged 18 to 80, will heave Hurst Castle at 7.45am, crossing the Solent to Colwell Bay.
The team, assisted by a fleet of volunteer kayakers and support boats, aims to raise more than £20,000.
Spectators are invited to gather at Colwell Beach to cheer the swimmers' achievements.
The event, also supported by Captain's Cabin cafe, is integral to the centre's operations, as it relies on fundraising events such as this one to continue providing its services.
Solent Swim Team T-shirts will be awarded to all swimmers and kayakers, featuring the names of all the swimmers.
