A tornado warning has been issued on the Isle of Wight today (Friday September 20).
The Tornado and Storm Research Organisation (TORRO) have warned residents on the Island of severe thunderstorms, with other areas affected including the South, parts of the South West, South Wales and the Midlands.
TORRO has warned of hail up to 20mm in diameter, heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds.
The warning was enforced at 10.02am this morning, and will be in place until 8pm tonight.
The Met Office have also issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain for the Island this weekend.
A spokesperson for TORRO said: "Showers and thunderstorms already across Kent and East Sussex will continue to move in a general westerly direction this morning, and should develop further into this afternoon.
"Relatively low freezing levels may allow some marginally severe hail to develop in the stronger cores in and close to the depicted area, although coverage will be hit-and-miss.
"Rather humid low-levels should preclude too much in the way of strong wind gusts, but a few isolated gusts to 40-50mph are possible.
"Heavy rain is likely in places too."
