AN ISLE of Wight couple celebrated a landmark occasion this week.
David and Jenny Ball, 87 and 86 respectively, celebrated 65 years of marriage on Thursday, September 26.
The pair moved to the Island shortly after getting married in Birmingham back in 1959.
David took up a post with the Isle of Wight Council as a county personnel officer, retiring in 2000, while Jenny, a nurse, worked at St Mary’s Hospital.

The happy couple met in 1958, playing badminton, and they are both still physically active to this day.
David coached all the Island Rugby clubs, as well as Ryde School, and continues to work out at the gym.
Even in their 80s, both he and Jenny enjoy skiing, and the latter continues to teach swimming, as well as competing herself.
Jenny particularly enjoys open-water swimming, and their large, productive garden, also helps to keep the pair fit and busy.
After moving to the Island, Jenny and David raised four sons at their home in Newport and they now have nine grandchildren.
Their first great-grandchild is also expected soon, in Canada.
