A man in his 60s has been arrested on the Isle of Wight after he allegedly asked a three-year-old if she wanted 'to get some sweets' and 'thrust his hips' in her direction.
Hampshire and IW Constabulary were alerted to reports of the incident on School Green Road/Avenue Road in Freshwater at around 8.30am this morning (Friday, September 27).
It is said that a man approached another man, walking with his three-year-old daughter, and asked the girl if she wanted to 'go with him to get some sweets'.
In addition to the comments, the man allegedly 'thrust his hips' in the direction of the man and his daughter, said police.
The incident was reported to police, and, this afternoon, officers arrested a man on suspicion of attempting to take a child so as to remove them from a person having lawful control.
The 61-year-old man remains in custody at this time.
A police spokesperson said: "We encourage anyone who has information about this incident or has experienced similar behaviour to please report this to police on 101, quoting 44240419623."
