Isle of Wight Quakers have provided funding for an Island youth project due to help transform the lives of teenagers.
Quakers have granted £50,000 to youth charity No Limits, who help teenagers that are persistently absent or at risk of exclusion from education on the Isle of Wight.
No Limits youth workers support young people that face challenges in their home and school life, giving emotional and practical support and helping with resilience and confidence.
Youth workers will begin work this month (October), with the project funded for one year and forecasted to see up to 60 young people supported.
Alison Spottiswoode, No Limits volunteer and a Quaker said: “We are delighted to support this project and hopefully make a real difference to the future lives of young people.”
Project Manager Vicki Mogridge-Percy said: “We are really grateful to the Hampshire and Islands Quakers for this funding, to support young people on the Isle of Wight.
"The #BeeWell survey of young people’s wellbeing highlighted that the need for support is high, and we know that the Island’s above average school absence rate is often caused by other difficulties in a young person’s life.
"We have over 30 years of experience of supporting young people and are confident we can make a difference.”
