Two dogs are joining the Isle of Wight Search and Rescue team to assist with missing person cases.
Malli, a three-year-old Sprocker Spaniel air scent dog, and Ginny, a seven-year-old ground scent Labrador are the newest recruits to the team that supports Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.
Both are going through their training with handlers Jasmine Light and Catherine Fitton.
Air search dogs are trained to follow scents given off by a missing person.
Ground search dogs use a piece of clothing or item with the missing person's scent to help locate the person.
Both four-legged recruits are in the process of training sponsored by Wightlink.
Isle of Wight Search and Rescue (WightSAR) support emergency services when a person goes missing.
Seven team leaders and over 20 volunteers can be quickly deployed to find the missing person.
In a statement, WightSAR chairman Dean Terrett said: “There is only so much a human can do.
"The amazing noses of dogs give us a better chance of finding people and this will make such a difference.”
