Isle of Wight libraries are gearing up for Green Libraries Week with a host of activities.
Running from October 7 to 13, the initiative will see all council-run libraries involved.
At Lord Louis Library, youngsters can engage in making self-portraits from recycled materials. Cowes Library invites participation in a recycled craft activity.
Sandown Library will host a talk by Sandown Green Town Volunteers, discussing their contributions to keeping Sandown clean and pleasant.
Freshwater Library offers children the chance to re-pot baby spider plants, and Ventnor Library will hold an autumn leaf craft event.
Last year, during Green Libraries Week, all council-run libraries began loaning out litter-pickers for community clean-up sessions.
These can be borrowed by individuals or groups.
All libraries have Recycling for Good Causes boxes, where stamps, old phones, certain electrical items, and costume jewellery can be deposited for recycling.
The proceeds go to Isle of Wight-based charities.
Several libraries now have Green Island Veg Economy (GIVE) tables, promoting community sharing of seeds, plants, and produce.
For more information on these activities and year-round services, visit the library website.
New visitors can sign up for a library card and follow the library service on Facebook at @IWLibraries for updates.
