A family-run bakery on the Isle of Wight is embarking on an "exciting" new chapter as it prepares to move into a new town centre home.

After 23 years at Pyle Street, Newport, Grace's Bakery is relocating to a bigger building on the High Street.

Most recently trading as Cloud 9, and years before that as Lennards Boots and Shows, 40 High Street is in the process of becoming Grace's Corner.

Grace's also has another store at 102 High Street, Newport.

Both that building and the Pyle Street one will shut to merge into the larger, two storey bakery.

Run by the Redrup family, Grace's opened in Ryde in 1997 at the site of the former flour mill.

Sarah Redrup, from the family business, told the County Press: "This is an exciting new chapter for our family's bakery.

"With more space, spread across two floors, we can welcome more of our customers.

"There are plenty of large windows to watch the world go by while enjoying locally roasted coffee and a Grace's cake!

"23 years ago my parents Ray and Carole first opened their doors on Pyle Street.

"I have fond memories of watching my dad tile the walls there when I was seven.

"It'll be sad to say goodbye to our shops on Pyle Street and the High Street, but we're looking forward to making new memories at Grace's Corner on 40 High Street."

Renovation work has already begun on the new building and the family are getting stuck in, too.

40 High Street boasts a long history and, for around 70 years, was home to Lennards.

To this day, the terracotta lettering advertising the old business can still be seen from the street.

Sarah said: "We're really excited for the new building after finding more out about its history - during our renovations we have found some really cool things including a floor mosaic from the site of the old entrance way."

The family are also keen to hear from people who have memories of Lennards before it closed.

They said they will be posting video blogs and photos of the renovation through their social media, to keep customers up to date.
