A popular festival of light is returning to Ryde this December.
Merry and Bright - Festival of Light will take place on Friday, December 6, from 5pm to 8pm, with new features and activities.
Network Ryde will host an exclusive Digital Graffiti workshop, led by Light Art Creatives, offering participants the chance to create light-based art using unique technology.
A main stage will feature local musicians curated by Aspire Creative Hub, including Mila Lake, Double Take, and 432 Nomads.
Brass bands and circus acts like Alicia’s Glow Circus and Wyld Fire show will perform in various locations.
The festival’s highlight, the Lantern Parade, will illuminate Ryde’s streets from 6pm to 7pm with lanterns themed around The 12 Days of Christmas.
Local groups, including Ryde Sea Scouts and Ryde Academy performing arts students, will participate.
The parade, accompanied by RAW Samba and others, will commence from Dover Street outside Aspire.
Vernon Square Gardens will showcase New Carnival’s lantern sculptures, creating a Winter Wonderland atmosphere.
The Royal Victoria Arcade will host a craft market, while several local businesses will offer late-night shopping.
The old NatWest Building will have craft activities, and free face painting will be available.
For those wanting to join the parade, lantern-making workshops and DIY kits will be offered by New Carnival starting in November.
