An Isle of Wight drug dealer was found to be selling cannabis to school children after police raided his home and uncovered overwhelming evidence.

Jack Urry, of Shore Road in Bonchurch, attended the IW Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 19, and pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug of Class B, namely cannabis.

Liz Miller, prosecuting, said police executed a warrant at the 28-year-old’s address and seized his mobile phone.

The device contained "overwhelming evidence" that Urry was dealing cannabis between November 26, 2022, and February 27, 2023, said Ms Miller.

The court heard that the phone records also showed that Urry had been selling drugs to school children.

Tom Cooke, defending, said his client was not making a “significant amount” of money from his dealing.

“An awful lot of what he was doing was to fund his own cannabis habits,” the court was told.

Mr Cooke said there was no disputing the prosecution’s facts but asked magistrates to keep the case in the lower court rather than sending it to crown court.

Magistrates accepted jurisdiction of the case and ordered a pre-sentence report.

Urry will return to the court on January 31, 2025, for sentencing.
