AN ISLE of Wight man has been made subject of a stalking protection order which prohibits him from contacting former Conservative politician Penny Mordaunt.

Edward Peter Brandt, of Queens Road, Freshwater, opposed the application against him.

Miss Mordaunt applied for the order, complaining that the 60-year-old carried out acts associated with stalking — namely that he repeatedly used email, phone (leaving two voicemail messages) and, on one occasion, attempted to force entry into her office, which she claims posed a risk.

The order, which was made on application by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, was granted and runs for ten years.

It requires that Mr Brandt attend an initial 90-minute appointment with a psychologist/psychiatrist from Southern Health.

He is also prohibited from the following:

  • Directly or indirectly, contacting or communicating with Penelope Mordaunt, or attempting to do so.
  • Following or approaching Penelope Mordaunt.
  • Entering any premises where he knows, or reasonably suspects Penelope Mordaunt is or may be present.
  • Entering any premises where he knows, or reasonably suspects Penelope Mordaunt is or may be working.
  • Entering any premises where he knows, or reasonably suspects Penelope Mordaunt is or may be living.
  • Referring, directly or indirectly to Penelope Mordaunt on any form of social media (including using images of her).
