ISLE of Wight speedway fans will be licking their lips in anticipation at the new season ahead, following the unveiling of the Wightlink Warriors' 2023 fixture schedule.

It promises to be a full on summer programme of shale track motorsport at Ryde's Smallbrook Stadium, with a varied programme.

The prgramme will feature matches in the recently announced NORA Speedway League.

In all, 13 meetings are planned over the summer season, with two during the week commencing July 17, which will feature two rounds and the final of the popular NORA British Women's Championship.

Warrios co-owner, Barry Bishop, said he and business partner, Martin Widman, had assessed feedback from speedway spectators on last year's offering.

"We believe we've been able to respond with a meaningful and exciting programme that will appeal to participants and supporters alike," said Bishop.

"Of course, we're thrilled to be able offer team speedway via the new NORA Speedway League.

"The response from our fans has been so positive since we named our riders last week, so it is now full steam ahead as we put the finishing touches to our events."

They will include handicap and flat track racing, the NORA Upright Championship and British Open, a one-off Island Masters meeting, plus plenty of track time for those looking to progress their speedway experience.

Island speedway sponsors, Wightlink, will be restoring the later Fastcat service to Portsmouth.

As it was last year, demonstration races for youth riders and up-and-comers, will take place before all meetings, commencing at 6.15pm, with the main parade at 6.45pm and racing starting promptly at 7pm.

The fixture list below is, as always, subject to change at short notice, with updates posted on the club website and Facebook page as soon as possible.
