AN ISLE of Wight runner joined an elite club at the weekend by completing her 500th parkrun.
Arielle Elton-Walters reached the landmark number during the weekly Medina IW Parkrun at Seaclose Park in Newport.
With only a few exceptions on special occasions, parkruns are held once a week, meaning it takes around a year to complete 50.
Since her first run on November 19, 2011, Arielle has clocked up more than a decade’s worth of parkruns — most often on one of the Isle of Wight courses.
By finishing her 500th run on Saturday, she is now part of an elite club eligible to wear the coveted blue ‘500’ t-shirt.
The honour is shared by only 446 people across the world.
“I’m so pleased to have completed my 500th parkrun and love being part of a brilliant community,” said Arielle.
“Thanks to everyone who makes it happen every week!”
Parkrun is a free community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.
It runs for 5km and takes place every Saturday morning at 9am.
