THE marksmen of the Newport (Isle of Wight) and District Rifle Club continued their busy summer schedule of shooting events, with Alan Foxworthy victorious both.
In the Mountbatten Trophy at Jersey Camp, Newtown — a classic British snap shoot — competitors shot at 200 yards using any fullbore rifle.
However, they did so with the condition all shooting, apart from using a sling, is done from the unsupported prone position.
They fired two strings of ten rounds at a 'figure 12' target.
Competitors then gathered at the Downend range, near Arreton, for the Cooper Cup about a week later.
The event, a three-position contest, saw shooters engage a 5in target at 100 yards, firing two shots within a ten-second period in the standing, supported position, kneeling and prone.
