DURING a break from the summer sunshine, Wight Tri held the fourth edition of its summer splash and dash series, Yaverland Aquabike 2.
The sea was calm for both laps of the 250m Australian exit swim, and the bike ride took in one or two loops of an undulating ride out of Bembridge.
Riders had to negotiate traffic lights as they headed out of Yaverland but time was adjusted for the breaks in action.
A handful of members had close nominated times, all under a minute, but taking first place was Mike Kimber, who finished the long course in 51:42, just 12 seconds outside his nominated time.
The next in was Ewan Cook, who completed a short course swim and bike ride in 29:43, 17 seconds inside his nominated time.
Third was Annette Hickman, who finished the long swim and short bike ride in 37:34, 26 seconds ahead of her nominated time.
Fastest on the long course was Chris Till (38:24), with Roy Young taking that same crown for the short course (29:04).
Wight Tri is keen to thank Yaverland Sailing and Boating Club for allowing members to use its premises, and Neil, Liz, Martin, Anne, Steve, Kevin and Kirsty for their support, timekeeping and marshalling.
The final event of the series kicks off on Friday, August 25.
