Both teams sized each other up, and no one took charge of the game until the 10th minute when an IOW long ball, chested by Mike Burton, found Max Napier, who slotted home for his first of the day.

IOW did not have to wait long for their second when a long ball across field by Stuart Beattie reached Napier, who beat the on rushing keeper to make it two.

Just before half-time, Napier bagged his hat-trick when a quick pass from Rob Iley was played into his feet, taken past a defender and blasted past the keeper.

The second half started in a similar fashion, with the Islanders limiting Havant to shots from distance, rarely threatening Matt Parker between the sticks.

Midway through the second half, the first of two sin bins for Havant helped kill the game off.

IOW took advantage, with two quick-fire goals from Chris Baker, both assisted by substitute Brad Oatley.

The first was worked from the back, with Oatley flicking through a ball that Baker volleyed over the keeper's head from 25 yards.

The last was from a through ball in behind the defence, which Baker comfortably took around the keeper and finished off nicely.

Soon after being restored to a full complement of players, Havant received their second sin bin offence for dissent towards the ref.

The IOW backline held firm, with the match finishing 5-0 and the Islanders progressing into the quarter finals. The cup draw will be announced after next week’s fixture.
