THERE was plenty of action out on the water when Isle of Wight crews and scullers competed in Newport Rowing Club’s Head of the Medina event.

The Medina Head is a processional race, over two divisions, with crews and scullers starting at intervals, over a 3200m course, on the river Medina.

There were 46 entries across two divisions, with a number of mainland teams also competing.

The hosts had the fastest crew of the day – the coxless four of Chris Waters, Connor Garner, Nathanial Hamilton and Toby Batchelor – while Shanklin and Sandown posted the fastest women master’s time.
