FOUR Isle of Wight swimmers competed in the 2023 Swim South East Masters Meet and caused quite a splash.
Ryde Masters Swimming Club members Jenny Ball, Matthew Sussmes, Marilyn Linnington and Kim Holmes excelled at the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley recently, winning a clutch of medals between them.
They came up against top swimmers from clubs across seven southern counties.
The Islanders gained several PB times with, in particular, veteran Jenny Ball producing some outstanding results.
Among them, Jenny set a new record for the 400m freestyle in her age category (85-89), and she took first place in three other events, namely the 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle.
Kim (35-39), who coaches at the Ryde club, took silver medals in the 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley, together with bronze in the 50m freestyle.
Meanwhile, another veteran, Marilyn (70-74) won gold in the 100m individual medley, and bronze in the 50m backstroke, while Matthew (55-59) won at 50m — silver in the freestyle and bronze in the backstroke.
