An Isle of Wight cyclist travelled to Newbury last week to compete in the VTTA National 15 Mile Championships.
Jerry Cooper, one of the organisers responsible for bringing the final round of July’s Southern XC MTB Championships to the Island, crossed the finish line in a time of 39:17.
Speaking after the Newbury race, Jerry said: “It feels great to be back racing after an enforced break for the past couple of years due to illness.
“Huge thanks go out to team sponsors Wightlink, Wight Mountain and Island Stoves for their continued support, and to Newbury Velo for a well-organised event.”
After recently competing in Goodwood’s National ten-mile circuit championships, Jerry hopes to get at least one more TT in before the end of the season.
At Goodwood, Jerry competed in the veteran 60-64 category, crossing the line in 26:37.
