Isle of Wight Warriors concluded their 2024 racing campaign by securing a 39-51 victory over Cradley Heathens at Smallbrook Stadium.
The Warriors, who had previously secured a 53-37 win in June, once again demonstrated their prowess on the track against the Heathens.
The thrilling event took a shocking turn when Tom Spencer, the lead rider of the Heathens, was involved in a severe crash.
Warriors' captain, Arran Butcher, executed a remarkable ride in the first heat leading his team to victory.
Despite the efforts of Heathens’ team manager, Andy Hawthorne, the Warriors managed to maintain their lead throughout the event.
Although William Cairns put up a robust final effort against the Warriors' Ben Morley, the Warriors ultimately celebrated their victory with the Vince Mapley Trophy.
Racing events are set to continue at Smallbrook on September 5 marking the beginning of the GT140 Four Team Tournament and the 2024 J.A.P. British Championship.
Team manager Steve Piper said: "Of course it’s nice to win, but the edge was taken off a bit it after Tom Spencer’s crash, but even with him, I think we would still have won, but that’s the best I have seen Henning (Loof) ride, he’s getting better all the time and Sonny was great until his fall in heat 14."
