WIGHTLINK-Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team members emerged triumphant from challenging races over the weekend.

Ewan and Kirsty Cook and Kev Chant competed in the RTTC National 10 Mile TT Championships in Cambourne, near Cambridge, one of this season's strongest fields.

They were eager to perform following solid outings in the National 10 TT Circuit Championships at Goodwood.

The challenging dual carriageway course included a tricky cross headwind.

Chant secured a joint 14th place finish with a time of 18.58.

He said: "I was trying to get as close to the top ten as possible, so five seconds off it wasn’t a bad result.

"There was a bit of traffic on the second corner, which probably cost me a few seconds, but in fairness, I don’t think I could've got much more out of the legs."

Ewan, debuting on a dual carriageway TT, finished at a personal best time of 22.02, assuring him to compete again next season at that level.

Kirsty, competing in her first mainland road and dual carriageway TT, set a personal best to wrap up her season.

Meanwhile, team member Oli Nolan was racing at Mountbatten, Portsmouth, working towards his second 'Cat' licence.

He experienced a setback in the first round of the Wessex CX Series, which he overcame to claim a ninth-place finish, equalling his last season's best.
