IN AN action-packed game, Shanklin Ladies maintained their 100 per cent winning start to Division 1 of the Hampshire Women's League against Basingstoke Town Women.

Shanklin dominated from the start, with Thea Broadhead striking first from a through ball by Tilly Yardley.
The went from bad to worse for Basingstoke — losing a player after a clash of heads, which required stitches.
Due to lack of substitutes, Basingstoke had to carry on a against a strong Shanklin side with ten players.
Then another injury left Basingstoke with nine while she was off the pitch getting treatment.
Despite the upper hand in numbers, Shanklin were frustrated by Basingstoke — unable to extend their lead by half-time, still 1-0 up.
A few forced changes didn't stop Shanklin from dictating the game and creating more chances in the second half.
With 20 minutes remaining, Broadhead notched up her second goal of the game.
Grace McDonald found Broadhead, who skilfully slipped the ball past the advancing Basingstoke goalkeeper.
Shanklin did not have to wait long to score again and make the game pretty safe.
This time it was Sienna Brennan who found the back of the net.
But plucky Basingstoke refused to give in — scoring a late goal, which unnecessarily gave the Islanders a nervy final ten minutes.
