AN ISLE of Wight cycle race team held its final time trial event of the season, which ended on a high with plenty of strong competition and team spirit.
The Charity 'Two-Up' Time Trial, on the Colemans 10 course yesterday (Sunday, September 22), attracted a large turn-out, despite a late change and a grim forecast for the Wightlink-Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team (WWMCRT) event.
Thankfully for the riders, the heavy downpours held off, which allowed them to enjoy the day, under some very creative team names.
However, WWMCRT team-mates Kev Chant and Nick Earley, proved to be an unbeatable pair, finishing with a time of 21mins 43secs, to claim the overall champions title.
Chris Till and James Veal fought hard for the win, but had to settle for second place with a time of 22.34.
Al Luxford and Oli Nolan finished close behind in 22.46.
Charis Jones and Dominique Munday were crowned women's champions, with a time of 26.13.
The Mountbatten charity grand draw raised more than £550, with hopes of the total amount raised will exceed £2,000.
WWMCRT's final event of the season is the Hill Climbs, on Sunday, October 13.
