Isle of Wight junior rowers tasted success across the Solent at the Itchen Imperial Junior Regatta in Southampton on Saturday (September 28).

Newport Rowing Club’s Boris Hare teamed up with Issac Gibson of Ryde Rowing Club to take on the J16 double sculls.

The pair qualified comfortably for the final and carried that form through with a convincing win to take gold.

They won their heat by the narrowest of margins and were again challenged closely in the final.

Mariana and Fiona kept their composure and managed to win by half a length.
Boris Hare also competed in the J16 single sculls, securing a place in the final.
