A team of 28 runners from Ryde Harriers took on the Gosport Half Marathon.

The event attracted 1,375 runners and featured a two-lap circuit along the scenic Lee-on-Solent promenade and Marine Parade Road.

The weather, usually a challenge due to the course's coastal exposure, was surprisingly mild, with only a light headwind during parts of the race.

Chris Newnham was the fastest Ryde Harrier, finishing in an impressive 01:11:08, securing seventh place overall. Ross Holme followed, clocking in at 01:16:14, and Daniel Furmidge completed the team with a time of 01:16:59, earning the first Vet 50 prize.

On the women's side, Bethany Howarth had an exceptional debut for Ryde Harriers, finishing at 01:21:01 and bagging the second lady and first senior female prizes.

Jenna Williams, another relatively new Ryde Harrier, finished in 01:36:20. Gemma Maddocks rounded out the ladies' team with a time of 01:49:19.

The event proved to be both a test of endurance and a platform for the Ryde Harriers to showcase their talent, with several members achieving personal bests and notable placements.
